Očné pohyby predstavujú priesečník kognitívnych systémov, ako sú spracovanie jazykových štruktúr, pozornosť spolu s videním a okulomotorickými procesmi. Merania v oblasti percepcie textu sa orientujú prevažne na vyhodnotenie, ako človek počas čítania spracúva daný text za predpokladu existujúceho vzťahu medzi kontrolou pohybu očí a mentálnym spracovaním textu. To určuje, kde a kedy sa očí pohybujú. Autorka v článku popisuje základné premenné vzťahujúce sa k výskumu čítania a uvádza najznámejších autorov používajúcich metódu sledovania pohľadu a reprezentatívne realizované výskumy v tejto oblasti.

Eye movements present the intersection of cognitive systems, such as the processing of language structures, attention along with vision and oculomotor processes. Measurements in the perception of the text are largely focused on evaluating how a person processes the text while reading, provided that there is an existing relationship between eye movement control and mental text processing. This determines where and when the eyes are moving. The author describes the basic variables related to reading research and presents the best-known authors using the eye-tracking method and representative researches in this field.
