Description

ITlib – Information Technology and Libraries is a scholary journal that addresses both theoretical and practical issues at the intersection of librarianship, information science, and information technology. The journal is published by the Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information (CVTI SR) and serves as a platform for researchers, experts, and practitioners to share their knowledge and experience.

Focus and Scope

In addition to its established focus on librarianship, information science, and library and information technology, ITlib welcomes contributions on emerging and progressive topics, including:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in libraries (e.g., chatbots, machine learning for metadata creation, and automated research support)
  • Digital Humanities, especially the connetion between cultural heritage, data analytics, and technological innovation
  • Long-Term Preservation (LTP) strategies that ensure the accessibility and integrity of digital content
  • Digitization and processing of information resources, including workflows, best practices, and case studies
  • Library Information Systems, from modernintegrated library systems to discovery tools
  • Innovations in library services and practices, reflecting new trends, project implementations, and creative service delivery models

While these areas represent the journal’s key focus, ITlib also supports submissions on other relevant topics in the broader field of library and information science and practice.

Peer Review Process:

All scholarly and research articles undergo an independent double-blind peer review process. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential. The aim of the review is to provide an impartial, objective, and expert evaluation of the submission’s quality, its contribution to research and practice in the field, and to offer constructive feedback to the author. Reviewers are asked to follow the official reviewer guidelines.

Open Access and Licensing:

ITlib is published as an Open Access journal. No article processing charges (APCs) apply. All published articles are freely available online and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright and may archive their articles in repositories.

Archiving Policy:

The journal archive is available:

All articles are assigned a DOI that includes the year, issue number, and page number corresponding to the print edition.

Ethical Guidelines:

The journal adheres to ethical publishing standards in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics):

  • Submissions must be original and unpublished
  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited
  • The peer review process is fair and confidential

Conflicts of interest must be disclosed

Publication Frequency

The journal is published twice a year, in June and December.

Review Process

The peer review process in our journal is double-blind – the identities of both the author and the reviewer remain unknown to each other. The aim of the review is to provide an independent, objective, and scholarly assessment of the manuscript’s quality, its contribution to science and practice in the field of library and information science, and to formulate constructive feedback for the author.
